Hot Drambuie Nights
Artist: Buttonfly
Album: Hot Drambuie Nights
Year: 2007
CD#: XXXXX
Canadian? Yes
Best Tracks: #6, #8, #9, #12
Comments Overall: deep, rich, dramatically varied tracks, classic rock & roll alternates with melodic, often mournful pieces
1. Wild Daughters, 4:33 - begins with instrumental section, melodic, distortion in the chorus, but not the verses "red wine lips and fine, fine hips", instrumental section on the end, begins to fade out then ends abruptly
2. Metaphors, 3:18 - begins slowly, picks up quickly, alternates between heavy, instrumental-dominated sections and light, vocal-dominated sections, ends with guitar breaking into quiet
3. Lipstick, 4:35 - begins slowly, guitars come in at twelve seconds, echoing and lonesome, leans heavily on the guitars, fades out
4. Hibernation Heist, 4:43 - begins slowly, heaving, heavy, deep, rises slowly to a climax, breaks then fades out
5. Judy, 4:57 - begins with electric guitar, rock & roll, pulses throughout the piece, fades out
6. Criminal, 3:48 - mournful, lonesome, feels like something echoing forever without end, fades out
7. Girls on Radio, 3:27 - begins slowly with solitary guitar and vocal, quickly becomes more rock & roll, a song about women playing rock & roll, fades out
8. Trapped in a Lazy Heart, 4:46 - melodic, guitar-heavy, echoing, longing, fades out
9. Ten Second Sweep, 4:29 - slow, quiet, orchestral, picks up very slowly, deep, melodic, magnificent, fades out at the end
10. Burning Brides, 2:01 - classic rock & roll, electric guitar, constant energy from start to finish, breaks at the end
11. Radiowaves, 2:29 - begins with ringing noise, electric guitars after five seconds, very rock & roll, fades out at the end
12. Haiku, 5:53 - melodic, echoing, lovely, "I wish that I could understand haiku", ends with long instrumental section, fades out, ten seconds of silence on the end
