I'm using this forum as a catalogue of these CHRW cds I make extensive use of. I have no idea how much or little use I'll make of it, but it's worth a shot. Others are more than welcome to make use of it or add to it if they feel so moved. I've prevented anyone but moderators from making threads in the reviews categories in order to keep the cd list from getting cluttered up, but if you want to add cds message me and I'll add you as a moderator post-haste.
Cds are sorted first by genre - where relevant cds can and will be inserted multiple times into multiple categories - and second into the three categories of "local", "localish", and "not-so-local", as so...
- "Local": The artist lives in London or in London's immediate vicinity (St. Mary's, Ingersoll, St. Thomas, etc...)
- "Localish": The artist lives within a three hour drive of London OR[/u] the artist has strong London connections (grew up here, married a Londoner, studied at Western, etc...)
- "Not-so-Local": Anyone else.
Note that these categories don't necessicarily correspond to Canadian Content. "Local" cds usually will make the cut, but "Localish" cds will often be foreign, in part because Detroit, Buffalo, and Ann Arbor all lie within a three hour drive of London, and in part because many people with strong London connections live abroad. "Not-so-Local" cds could just as easily be from Vancouver or Singapore.
I'm "stickying" new cds while they're new. Once they come off the new rack I'll remove the designation.
For each CD I'm including the following...
- The name of the CD.
- The name of the artist.
- Whether the CD is Canadian.
- The number of the CD in CHRW's archives.
- The London connection (if its a Localish CD type B) and artists city of residence (unless its London).
- My overall impression of the CD.
- The best tracks on the CD.
- A few words on each of the individual tracks.
The idea is both to draw attention to good local cds and to help people find decent tracks on cds they may not be familiar with.
Enjoy,
