The VisitArtist: Loreena McKennitt Album: The Visit Year: 1991 CD#: 1146 Localish?: From Stratford Canadian? Yes Best Tracks: #3, #4, #5, #6 Comments Overall: "Mournful", "Soulful", and "Haunting" could be applied to practically every piece on the C.D. The thing has a marvelous, spiritual quality to it. It reminds one of ruined abbeys and grandmother's attic and all things lost. 1. All Souls Night, 5:08 - Starts quiet, fades in, souldful, haunting. 2. Bonny Portmore, 4:21 - Mournful song about the removal of the Great Oak of Portmore in Northern Ireland 3. Between the Shadows, 3:41 - Purely instrumental piece dominated by harp and violin, moving with a kind of quiet energy. 4. The Lady of Shalott, 11:34 - Calm, mournful tale pulled from Aurthurian legends. Worth every minuite. 5. Greensleeves, 4:26 - Sweet, beautiful, mournful version of a traditional piece. 6. Tango to Evora, 4:10 - Harp, voilin, voice, very moving 7. Courtyard Lullaby, 4:55 - Starts slowly, very quiet and slow, a dreamy quality. 8. The Old Ways, 5:51 - Begins with drum and harp, slows down after a minuite but later picks up again. 9. Cymbeline, 5:02 - Very slo, very quiet, sad piece - Shakespeare on death set to music.
