Beyond Our ShoresArtist: The Light of East Ensemble Album: Beyond Our Shores Year: 2009 CD#: 48327 Best Tracks: #1-2, #3, #6, #8 Comments Overall: Traditional Turkish, Greek and Arabic influences fused together. Somewhat formal. Very enjoyable. 1. Doulab Hitzaz / Gantasio Hitzaz / Ayazean, 10:50 - Three very different pieces in succession. Cur up the one you want, and don't feel the need to play all three. First: slow, occasional stronger moments. Second: cue up 01:17, solemn, slow, deep, moody, quiet moments, mournful moments midway and later. Third: cue up 07:58, regulaur, dancing music, strong beat, gradual ending. 2. Sala - Sala, 2:51 - Deep, dark beginning. Mournful first half. Picks up unexpectedly halfway through. Becomes danceable, active, lively. 3. S'Agapo Giati Eisai Oraia, 7:50 - Slow beginning. Slow overall. Deep and mournful. Lonely in places. Magnificently empty. 4. Mousourlou / Miserlou, 6:49 - Begins slow, lonely. Gradually (very gradually) picks up. Becomes danceable from about 1:30. Slows down again. Rises to energetic conclusion. 5. Lamma Badda Yatathana, 3:33 - Slow, quiet first half. Slow, steady, regulaur second half. Slow ending. 6. Apo Kseno Topo, 2:58 - Slow opening, but soon becomes quite quick and danceable. Quick, regulaur. Folk dancing at a wedding. 7. Sto'pa Kai Sto Ksana Leo, 5:00 - Slow, mournful. Feels like a very slow dance. 8. Rampi - Rampi, 9:20 - Begins with a slow whistle. Breaks into something quick, light, danceable. Mood changes several times. Note: Former Sunfest Performer.
